Tomatoes are Now in Season

Tomatoes Are Back in Season! 🍅

Tomato season is here, and fresh tomatoes are making their way back into gardens, farmers’ markets, and kitchens!

At Bunny’s Love Farm, we love growing produce that can go straight from the garden to the family table. Tomatoes are a summertime favorite because they’re flavorful, versatile, and packed with nutrients.

Why Add Tomatoes to Your Plate?

Tomatoes are naturally low in calories and provide several important nutrients. They are a good source of vitamin C and also provide potassium, folate, and vitamin K.

Tomatoes are especially known for lycopene, the antioxidant that gives many tomatoes their beautiful red color. Lycopene and other antioxidants found in tomatoes are part of what makes them a great addition to a balanced diet.

Fresh Ways to Enjoy Tomatoes

One of the best things about tomatoes is how many different ways you can use them. Try them:

  • Sliced on sandwiches and burgers

  • Chopped into salads

  • Added to tacos

  • Made into fresh salsa

  • Cooked into soups and sauces

  • Roasted with herbs

  • Added to omelets or scrambled eggs

  • Simply sliced and enjoyed fresh

How to Store Fresh Tomatoes

For the best flavor, whole tomatoes that are ready to eat can generally be kept at room temperature and used within a few days.

If your tomatoes are still ripening, leave them on the counter and give them a little time. Once cut, tomatoes should be covered and refrigerated.

And remember: wash fresh tomatoes under clean running water before cutting or eating them.
